Not every love story begins in a traditional way. For Lexi and Frank, sparks first flew in 2013 on Call of Duty Twitter. What started as a shared interest in gaming grew into something far more meaningful. Over time, playful messages turned into heartfelt conversations. Soon, they realized their connection was undeniable.

After officially getting together in April 2015, Lexi and Frank began building a life together filled with laughter, memories, and adventures. Ten years later, they stood hand in hand to say “I do” in beautiful downtown St. Petersburg.

The First Date That Sealed the Deal

When Frank asked Lexi out, he wanted their first date to feel simple, yet special. They went to dinner, followed by a movie. That night wasn’t filled with grand gestures—it was filled with laughter, comfort and the ease of being together. That foundation became the heart of their relationship.

A Proposal at the St. Pete Pier

Frank’s proposal was nothing short of magical. It happened on a regular Wednesday evening during a weekly date-night ritual. The couple dressed up and dined at Rococo Steak, one of their favorite restaurants. Afterwards, they followed tradition by walking the St. Pete Pier and grabbing dessert.

As they strolled through Vinoy Park, Lexi paused to take photos of the view. That’s when she noticed Frank’s shadow on one knee. Her heart raced, and in that moment, the ordinary turned extraordinary. Their proposal became a memory etched in time forever, which made it even more meaningful.

Wedding day: Mahaffey Theater

The couple chose a romantic spring date for their downtown St. Pete elopement. Their ceremony was described in three words: incredible, brilliant and spectacular—a phrase borrowed from Lady Gaga.

The ceremony began at 5 p.m. and was an hour of joy and love. With no wedding party, the focus was fully on Lexi and Frank. Guests were treated to heartfelt moments under the Florida sun and witnessed one of the prettiest sunsets.

Lexi walked down the aisle with her father, Stephen, to the instrumental version of “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran, performed by the Vitamin String Quartet. The air buzzed with emotion as Frank waited at the altar to see Lexi for the first time walking to him.

The recessional brought an upbeat mood with “Celebration” by Kool & The Gang—the perfect soundtrack for their new chapter as husband and wife.

A Celebration Filled With Love

While their ceremony was intimate, their celebration was full of warmth. Bystanders who paused to watch added an unexpected but sweet memory to their wedding day. Lexi loved that complete strangers sat and stood around to watch them exchange their vows. You could almost hear a pin drop as everyone waited in anticipation for the two to become one.

After the vows, the newlyweds and their guests returned to Rococo Steak for dinner. The same restaurant where Frank proposed became the place they celebrated their marriage. With incredible food and the people they loved most, the evening felt complete.

Why Downtown St. Pete?

For Lexi, choosing their wedding location was easy. She spotted a new venue permit location that their planner, Melanie shared on Instagram. In that moment, she knew it was the place she was meant to marry Frank. It was close to where they lived and where Frank proposed. The choice felt natural, and the planning process flowed with ease.

The couple described their planning experience as stress-free and fun. Communication with their planner Melanie was “incredible,” which made every step leading up to the wedding enjoyable. They got to pick the color palette and desired florals for their personal florals and selected the music they wanted for all the special moments.

Who wore it best?

Lexi’s wedding day style was effortlessly elegant. Her gown and veil came from The Dressing Room St. Pete, and was paired with chic Stuart Weitzman shoes. She sparkled in jewelry from Mavilo, David Yurman, and even Target, proving style is all about mixing high and low pieces.

Frank looked sharp in a Jos A. Bank suit and polished Magnanni shoes. Together, they were the picture of timeless style.

Advice for Future Couples

Lexi and Frank have simple but powerful advice for others: “Roll with it.” Things may come up, but laughter and love can carry you through. They remind couples to enjoy every moment because the day flies by faster than you think.

And don’t think you can’t combine ‘traditional’ wedding day components at your intimate wedding. Lexi did a bouquet toss to their sisters and it was so cute to watch and created a memory everyone cherished.
