What started as a casual rivalry at a gym in Savannah turned into a connection that led to a joyful and meaningful Clearwater Beach elopement for Kayla and Jeremy.
Kayla and Jeremy met in 2022 during a fitness challenge at their local gym. After exchanging glances for a couple of weeks, Kayla made the first move, joking that Jeremy looked like good competition. “We started talking throughout the competition and became inseparable,” she shared. She won the challenge- he came in second- and they’ve been side-by-side ever since.
Originally planning to propose on a Thanksgiving cruise, Jeremy was encouraged by Kayla’s dad to do it sooner while both of their families were gathered in Florida. During a post-dinner beach walk at Indian Rocks Beach, Jeremy pulled the ring from Kayla’s own fanny pack (under the pretense of needing sunscreen) and proposed with cheers from strangers around them. “Of course, I said yes,” Kayla said. “It was perfect.”
The couple’s Clearwater Beach wedding day was full of light, subtle coastal charm- the vision they’d dreamed of. The ceremony took place on the Caladesi Terrace at the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach, offering sweeping views of the Gulf. They had originally planned to marry in a public park, but a triathlon that weekend changed their plans. The Hyatt was their next best option- and a beautiful one at that. “Also, it’s a pink hotel… so how couldn’t we?” Kayla joked.
The couple kept it intimate, with just seven guests in attendance, creating a relaxed and joyful atmosphere. Kayla walked down the aisle to “Symphony” by Clean Bandit (acoustic version), escorted by her father. They danced to “And I Love You So” by Perry Como, then shared cake and champagne as the ocean breeze rolled in.
Everything about their wedding was intentional and deeply personal, but one unexpected moment made it all the more unforgettable. At 2 a.m. that night, the entire hotel was evacuated due to a pulled fire alarm. Their two families huddled together outside, laughing and waiting for the all-clear. “It actually became one of the most memorable parts of the day,” Kayla said. “It brought everyone even closer.”
“Melanie and Lori did most of the heavy lifting, which helped us prioritize the smaller details that made our wedding perfect.”
With the Chantilly Chic Celebrations team at the helm, Kayla and Jeremy’s elopement was seamless, joyful, and completely stress-free. Communication was easy and responsive, and every vendor detail was handled with care.
“We really appreciated all of their questions too, to make sure they knew exactly what our vision looked like.”
From the romantic florals by Jennie’s Florist to the photography by Ariel Amir and videography by Southern Elopement Films, every moment was captured with intention.
Kayla and Jeremy encourage other couples considering a non-traditional route to go for it.
“DO IT! We originally thought we were going to do a courthouse ceremony, but we figured, why not do it up a little? We’re only getting married once!”
